Strait of Hormuz Disrupted as US & Iran Clash
US–Iran tensions escalated sharply around the Strait of Hormuz after direct military actions disrupted one of the world’s most critical shipping routes.
The United States seized an Iranian linked cargo ship while enforcing a naval blockade, prompting Iran to condemn the move and threaten retaliation, calling it a ceasefire violation.
At the same time, Iran began restricting movement through the strait, with reports of warning shots fired at vessels. Shipping traffic has dropped dramatically, leaving ships stranded and supply chains disrupted.
Because the strait carries about 20 percent of global oil, the standoff is pushing energy prices higher and adding pressure to the global economy.
Efforts to restart talks have stalled, with both sides blaming each other, leaving the situation tense and unresolved.

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE
In moments like this, when the world feels unstable, it’s easy to search for reassurance and still feel unsettled. But Scripture brings us back to something unshakable.
You are known, chosen, and deeply loved by God. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1). At the cross, we see how far that love goes, as Jesus bore the weight of our sins and cried, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”. Jesus was forsaken and condemned so that we could be never be forsaken and condemned. Truly how loving and merciful is our God?
Stop striving to create your own peace, and rest in the God’s peace.
MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT
Israel–Lebanon Ceasefire Proves Fragile
A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is already showing signs of breaking down just days after it began.
The 10 day truce, brokered by the United States, was meant to pause fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and create space for negotiations. But almost immediately, both sides began accusing each other of violations, with reports of rocket fire, airstrikes, and continued military activity along the border.
Hezbollah said it launched attacks in response to Israeli actions, while Israel claimed it was targeting threats inside southern Lebanon, where its forces are still maintaining a security zone.
Despite the ceasefire technically remaining in place, the situation on the ground remains tense, with ongoing clashes and little sign of full de escalation. Talks are expected, but trust between both sides appears low.

“LET GOD BE TRUE, AND EVERY MAN A LIAR”
Moments like this can make it tempting to look to leaders or powerful figures for certainty and solutions. But Scripture redirects that trust. “Let God be true, and every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).
Human leaders, no matter how confident or capable they appear, are limited and flawed. They can promise peace and still fall short. That’s why the Bible consistently points us away from placing ultimate trust in people.
Real security is not found in human authority, but in God and God alone.
THE ECONOMY
Oil Shock Fears As Global Shipping Route Destabilises
Oil markets have been shaken after disruption to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping routes, raised fears of a global energy shock.
Traffic through the strait has dropped to a near standstill, with only a handful of ships passing compared to over 100 a day before the crisis.
Because the route carries around 20 percent of the world’s oil, the slowdown is already pushing prices higher and creating uncertainty in global markets.
Analysts say the disruption is one of the largest energy supply shocks in decades, with millions of barrels of oil affected and supply chains under pressure.
With tensions ongoing and no clear resolution, the situation is raising concerns about fuel shortages, rising costs, and broader economic impact worldwide.

CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE
Rising prices and uncertainty can quickly pull our focus toward tomorrow. But Jesus speaks into that: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself” (Matthew 6:34).
Moments like this remind us how easily we place our peace in systems we can’t control. When they shake, anxiety follows.
The call is to stay grounded in God. God isn’t shocked or surprised with what is happening today, tomorrow and years ahead.

Armed robbers held around 25 people hostage during a bank heist in Naples before escaping through underground tunnels. Three masked men entered a Crédit Agricole branch in broad daylight, locking customers and staff inside for about two hours while targeting safe deposit boxes. Emergency crews rescued those inside, but the robbers fled through a hole in the floor into the sewer system before police arrived. No serious injuries were reported, and the value stolen remains unclear as a manhunt continues.
A bus crash in India’s Kashmir region has left at least 20 people dead and dozens injured after a vehicle carrying more than 60 passengers lost control on a mountain road. The bus collided on a sharp bend before plunging into a steep gorge. Rescue teams and locals pulled survivors from the wreckage and took the injured to hospitals. Authorities say overcrowding and dangerous terrain likely contributed to the crash, with such accidents not uncommon in the region.
China and North Korea have resumed cross border passenger train services for the first time since 2020, restoring a key travel link. The route, previously shut during COVID, is now running again on a limited basis, mainly for officials and approved travellers. The move signals a gradual reopening and continued cooperation between the two countries.
